baggage serve

  • baggage refers to necessary or enough articles and other personal belongings that passengers take with them for wearing, use, comfort or convenience. unless otherwise specified, it includes passengers' checked and carry-on baggage.

  • according to caac, the following articles may not be checked as baggage or carried secretly in baggage (including both checked and carry-on baggage)

    1. hazardous articles

    articles specified in the international civil aviation organization technical instructions for the safe transport of dangerous goods by air (icao-ti),  international air transport association dangerous goods regulations (iata-dgr) as well as shandong airlines鈥?transport manual for hazardous articles, including:

    a) explosives, e.g. fireworks, firecrackers, ammunition (except for bullets)

    b) gases, including flammable and non-flammable non-poisonous gases, poisonous gases, e.g. compressed gas, liquefied gas, etc.

    c) flammable liquid, e.g. alcohol, paint, rubber solution, etc.

    d) flammable solid, substances liable to spontaneous combustion and substances that release flammable gas when damped by water, e.g. magnesium powder, white phosphorus, yellow phosphorous, etc.

    e) oxidizing agent and organic peroxides, e.g. smoke agent, bleaching powder, hydrogen peroxide, etc.

    f) toxic substances and infectious substances, e.g. raw lacquer, poisonous pesticides, heroin, vaccine, etc.

    g) radioactive substances, e.g. radioactive isotopes, radioactive chemical reagents, etc.

    h) corrosive substances, e.g. acid, alkaline, wet cell, mercury, etc.

    i) magnetic substances.

    j) substances with narcotic, unpleasant or other similar properties.

    k) articles thatnarcotic, unpleasant or other s

    l) other hazardous articles that may not be transported as baggage according to shandong airlines.

    2. firearms, military or police equipment (including main components)

    3. controlled knives

    4. living animals, except for small animals, guide dogs and hearing dogs.

    5. other prohibited articles specified in relevant national regulations.

     

  • article that calls for special tending may not be checked as baggage or carried secretly in baggage. instead, it should be carried into the cabin and transported as unchecked baggage. shandong airlines shall assume no responsibility for the loss, damage or government鈥檚 confiscation of such articles.

    a) important documents, commercial papers and materials.

    b) valuable coupons.

  • the following articles may only be transported provided that they are in keeping with shandong airlines' terms of transportation and approved by shandong airlines:

    a) precision instrument, electric appliances.

    b) shotgun, sporting guns and bullets.

    d) small animals, guide dogs, hearing dogs.

    e) top-secret documents, diplomatic pouch, shandong airlines鈥?unaccompanied public mails.

    f) electric wheelchairs passengers use on their journeys.

    g) sharp objects, blunts not counted as controlled knives, e.g. domestic knives such as kitchen knife, shears, large fruit knife, razor and so forth, professional knives such as scalpel, butcher steel, carving knife and so on, sharp objects used in performance such as knife, spear, sword, halberd and soon, as well as axe, chisel, hammer, awl, walking stick with added weight or pointy nails, mountaineering stick tipped with iron and other sharp instrument and blunts that may harm aviation safety

    h) dry ice, liquid-state beverage, alcohol-containing cosmetics, etc.

    i) other prohibited hazardous articles.

    j) assignable instrument.

    k) jewelry.

    l) valuable metal and its products.

    m) luxury bags.

    n) valuables such as watch.

    o) lithium battery, power bank

    p) antiques and paintings.

    q) articles that are fragile and easily damaged.

    r) perishables.

    s) samples.

    t) presswork out of print or manuscript.

    u) travel documents or papers.

    v) electronic products, digital products, original and spare components of video camera, etc.

    w) cell phone, walkman, computer hardware and software, etc.

    x) prescription drugs that need to be taken on time

  • 1. definition & classification of baggage

    1.1 definition of baggage

    baggage refers to necessary or enough articles and other personal belongings that passengers take with them for wearing, use, comfort or convenience.

    1.2 classification of baggage

    baggage that shandong airlines carry are divided into checked baggage and unchecked bagged according to our liability to these two different types of baggage.

    checked baggage refers to baggage that passenger handed over to the carrier to tend and transport, one that鈥檚 been issued a baggage ticket and hung an identification tag. carry-on baggage refers to baggage tended by passengers themselves besides their checked baggage, including carry-on and cbbg.

    2 packing of checked baggage

    checked baggage must be properly packed, locked and buckled, tightly lashed, able to bear certain weight, capable of being safely loaded, uploaded and transported under normal operating conditions, and meet the following conditions:

    a) suitcase, travelling bag and handbag should be properly locked so things within won鈥檛 go missing.

    b) two or more bags not be strapped together as one piece.

    c) do not attach anything to your baggage.

    d) bamboo basket, net bag, rope, straw bag, plastic bag, foam box may not be used as outer packaging of baggage.

    e) make sure that passenger鈥檚 name, detailed address and contact number are clearly written both inside and outside the baggage

    f) packaging of special baggage should be in keeping with relevant provisions in paragraph 6. collection & transportation of special baggage in article 16.0 baggage collection & transportation.

    g) packaging of hazardous articles transported as baggage should be in keeping with relevant provisions in paragraph 7. hazardous articles in baggage in article 16.0 baggage collection & transportation.

    3. baggage weight & volume restriction

    3.1 checked baggage

    3.1.1weight restriction

    a) every piece of checked baggage may not weigh more than 32kg (70lbs) or less than 2kg (4lbs)

    b) checked baggage over 32kg (70lbs) should be divided into two pieces first before checking in.

    3.1.2 volume restriction

    a) the length, width and height of weight-concept checked baggage may not be over 2500px (40 inches), 1500px (24 inches) and 1000px (16 inches) respectively; the sum of the length, width and height of every piece of piece-concept checked baggage may not be over 5075px (80 inches, including wheel and hand grip); baggage not in keeping with above provisions should be transported as cargo instead of baggage.

    b) the length, width and height of every piece of weight-concept checked baggage may not be less than 750px (12 inches), 250px (4 inches) and 500px (8 inches) respectively; the sum of the length, width and height of every piece of piece-concept checked baggage may not be less than 1500px; baggage not in keeping with above provisions may not be transported alone as checked baggage.

    3.2 carry-on baggage

    3.2.1 weight restriction

    every first- and business-class passenger may carry two pieces of carry-on baggage provided that each piece weight no more than 8kg (17lbs). every economic-class passenger may carry one piece of carry-on baggage that weighs no more than 5kg (11lbs).

    3.2.2 volume restriction

    the length, width and height of every piece of carry-on baggage may not be over 1375px (22 inches), 1000px (16 inches) and 500px (8 inches) and should be capable of fitting into the space under the seat in front or the closed baggage rack above.

    1.1 scope of application

    weight concept applies to transportation of baggage that not measured by piece.

    1.2 free baggage allowance

    a) free baggage allowance for adult or children passenger is: 40kg (88lbs) for first-class, 30kg (66lbs) for business class and 20kg (44lbs) for economy class.

    b) free baggage allowance for infant passenger flying domestically is 10kg (22lbs).

    c) air china platinum card-holding passenger gets an extra 30kg (66lbs) free baggage allowance on top of his or her original free baggage allowance while taking flights that are practically run by shandong airlines.

    d) air china gold card-holding passenger gets an extra 20kg (44lbs) free baggage allowance on top of his or her original free baggage allowance while taking flights that are practically run by shandong airlines.

    e) air china silver card-holding passenger gets an extra 20kg (44lbs) free baggage allowance on top of his or her original free baggage allowance while taking flights that are practically run by shandong airlines.

    2. piece concept

    shandong airlines exercises piece-concept free baggage allowance on international and regional air routes, which are divided into piece-concept baggage rules for area 1 and piece-concept baggage rules for area 2.

    2.1 rules for piece-concept baggage in area 1

    a) applicable air routes

    1) air routes between iata area 1 and 2;

    2) air routes between iata area 1 and 3;

    3) air routes between japan and iata area 1, 2 and 3 that fly over mainland china (only for flights that are practically run by shandong airlines throughout the journey);

    4) air routes between within the borders of mainland china and japan;

    b) specific rules

    1) first- and business-class passenger holding an adult or children ticket is entitled to two pieces of free checked baggage provided that each piece weighs no more than 32kg (70lbs) and the sum of the length, width and height of each piece is no greater than 3950px (62 inches).

    2) economy-class passenger holding an adult or children ticket is entitled to two pieces of free checked baggage provided that each piece weighs no more than 23kg (50lbs) and the sum of the length, width and height of each piece is no greater than 3950px (62 inches).

    3) infant passenger (whatever class) is entitled to one piece of free checked baggage provided that it weighs no more than 23kg (50lbs) and the sum of its length, width and height is no greater than 2875px (45 inches). the passenger may also check a pushchair or bassinet for free, which if space allows, may be taken into the cabin after getting the chief attendant鈥檚 consent.

    4) air china gold card-holding passenger gets to carry an extra piece of baggage for free on top of his or her original free baggage allowance while taking flights that are practically run by shandong airlines.

    2.2 rules for piece-concept baggage in area 2

    a) applicable air routes

    1) air routes between iata area 2 and 3;

    2) air routes with iata area 2;

    3) air routes with iata area 3, those that fly within the boarders of mainland china throughout the journey do not count;

    b) specific rules

    1) first- and business-class passenger holding an adult or children ticket is entitled to two pieces of free checked baggage provided that each piece weighs no more than 32kg (70lbs) and the sum of the length, width and height of each piece is no greater than 3950px (62 inches).

    2) economy-class passenger holding an adult or children ticket is entitled to one piece of free checked baggage provided that it weighs no more than 23kg (50lbs) and the sum of its length, width and height is no greater than 3950px (62 inches).

    3) infant passenger (whatever class) is entitled to one piece of free checked baggage provided that it weighs no more than 23kg (50lbs) and the sum of its length, width and height is no greater than 2875px (45 inches). the passenger may also check a pushchair or bassinet for free, which if space allows, may be taken into the cabin after getting the chief attendant鈥檚 consent.

    4) air china platinum, gold or silver card-holding passenger gets to carry an extra piece of baggage for free on top of his or her original free baggage allowance while taking flights that are practically run by shandong airlines.

    2.3 the following articles may be deemed as a piece of baggage whose sum of length, width and height is not greater than 3950px (62 inches) regardless of their actual sizes.

    a) a sleeping bag or a bed clothes

    b) a rucksack.

    c) a snowing board along with a pair of ski poles and a pair a ski boots, or a ski board and a pair of ski boots.

    d) a golf pouch, including golf clubs and a pair of golf shoes.

    e) a duffel bag or a b4-sized bag.

    f) a properly packed bicycle (single-seat touring bike or racing bike, non-motor driven), fastened by its sides and with its pedals removed.

    g) a pair of standard water-ski board or a pair of obstacle water-ski board.

    h) properly packed fishing gear, which contains no greater than two fishing rods, one reel, one hand net, a pair of fishing shoes and a fishing kit.

    i) sporting guns: one rifle case at most, which contains no more than two rifles and 5kg of bullets, one shooting pad, one silencer, one small rifle tool or two shotguns and two shotgun cases or one handgun case, which contains no more than 5 handguns, 5kg (11lbs) of bullets, one silencer, one handgun telescope, and small handgun tool.

    j) any portable musical instrument whose length is 2500px (40 inches) at most.

    3. excess baggage fare:

    a. passengers should pay for excess baggage that鈥檚 over their free baggage allowance of checked and carry-on baggage.

    b. an excess baggage ticket should be issued for excess baggage fare collected.

    c. rate of excess baggage fare should be 1.5% of applicable economy class ticket price on the day when the excess baggage ticket is issued per kilogram in cent. the total amount is measured in yuan and the mantissa should be rounded off.

     

  • a) in the case of connecting transportation where the whole trip is practically run by shandong airlines or jointly run by shandong airlines and air china, no matter whether there鈥檚 any stopover, the free baggage allowance for the whole trip shall be the higher free baggage allowance limit for certain segment.

    b) in the case of connecting transportation where the whole trip is jointly run by shandong airlines and other airline company (except for air china), piece-wise free baggage allowance shall be employed for each segment.

     


  • 1. passengers may declare the value of their checked baggage when each kilogram is worth more than 100 yuan.

    2. the declared value of checked baggage shall not be higher than its actual value. the maximum limit of baggage declared value is 8,000 yuan. shandong airlines has the right to refuse to accept any baggage should it not agree with the declared value and the passenger refuse to let shandong airlines check the baggage. 

    3. shandong airline charges a 5鈥?valuation charge of the value that exceeds the limit specified in paragraph 1 in the value declared by passengers. the amount is measured in yuan and the mantissa should be rounded off.

     


  • [definition] small animals refer to domestic dogs and cats (flat-nosed canines, flat-nosed felines, pitbulls and canines that are sensitive to high temperature and high altitude are not suitable for air transport). wild animals and animals in strange form or are apt to injure people, such as snakes, do not fall in to the category of small animal.

    1. an animal quarantine certificate issued by county (district)-level sanitary authority or above must be provided for transportation of small animals on domestic flights. and valid certificates required for the exit, entry and transit of small animals by relevant countries or regions during the course of transportation must be provided for international and regional flights.

    1. the total weight of each individually packaged small animal and its container (including food and water) may not be over 32kg.

    2. please prepare a special air shipping container, which should meet the requirements in packing container requirement of live animals for air transport mh/t1014-2004 for your animal, to be specific:

    锛?/span>1锛?/span>use a small animal shipping container designed for air transport that锛?/span> food and water) may not be over 32kg.y for the animal transportation fees and check in. transit of small animals by relevantl material on the door of the container. it should be able to effectively prevent animals from opening the door on their own and escaping after the door is locked (see figure-1).

    锛?/span>2锛?/span>vents in containers of small animals should be made of metal and firmly installed in the containers (see figure-2). if not made of metal, the vents must be air holds that are round or in other shape.the ventilation holes of the container shall be set at one third of the upper end of the other three sides of the container wall except the door. all openings shall be able to prevent the nose or claws of small animals from protruding out.

    锛?/span>3锛?/span>all accessories (including nut, latch, rivet, lockset, etc.) of the animal container must be firm and good in function.

    锛?/span>4锛?/span>such animal containers should have edges or hand grips that stick out for it would be easier to carry them during baggage sorting, loading and unloading process.

    锛?/span>5锛?/span>such animal containers should have a steady base that allows them to stay on a flat surface without sliding. in the case of animal cases with wheels, make sure that you fix or remove the wheels in advance so that these cases wonsteady base that allows ess of transportation.

    锛?/span>6锛?/span>size of such animal containers must be in keeping with iata锛?/span>of transportation. surface without sliding. in the case of animal cases with wheels, mals kept in to stand, sit or turn freely and lie down in normal posture (see figure-3).

    锛?/span>7锛?/span>make sure that the case is well ventilated so that the animal kept in wonransportation

    锛?/span>8锛塗he container floor shall be solid.capable of preventing animals faeces from seeping so that the airplane, equipment on the plane and other articles won鈥檛 be contaminated. the inside of the case must be lined with a layer of absorbent pad, which may not contain any toxic substance (such as newspaper, etc.)

    锛?/span>9锛?/span>every container may be used to carry one animal only.

    锛?/span>10锛?/span>drinking bowl is required for flights of long-distance routes (over 6 hrs)

    3. please make sure that your animal container is properly packed and below are the specific requirements:

    锛?/span>1锛?/span>both sides of locking device must be fastened with self-locking nylon ties (see figure -4) and both should be tightly buckled up. the recommended size of nylon ties is over 3.6x100mm (see figure -5)

    锛?/span>2锛?/span>nylon protective net must be employed after the containerlf-locking nylon ties (see figure -4) and both should be tightly buckled up. the recommended size of nylon ties is over 3.6x10and the diameter of the rope should be no less than 2mm; the net must be firmly tied up and the knot should be kept away from the door of the container and won鈥檛 interfere with the container lying flat. make sure that the protective net is not damaged during baggage collection. 

    锛?/span>3锛?/span>containers must be packed and reinforced with packing straps after being wrapped up with protective net. medium-sized case (containers larger than or equivalent to 81脳55脳1450px and smaller than 91脳60脳1650px are medium-sized cases) requires at least two bands of packing straps on both the top and bottom, which form a grid pattern in the end; large-sized case (containers larger than or equivalent to 91脳60脳1650px) requires at least three bands of packing straps on both the top and bottom that are evenly spaced. try not to turn the case while packing so that the animal within won鈥檛 be disturbed. do not strap the sides of the case horizontally and those on the sides must all be vertical bands that are parallel to one another. make sure that you pass the packing strap through the grid in the door and the protective net in a fashion that the band goes in from one grid and comes out from the next. the bands should be evenly spaced so they can fasten the door, the case and the net all together. in the meantime, the packing straps and the door of the container should also be fastened using self-locking nylon ties (figure -6).

    锛?/span>4锛?/span>the sum of the length, width and height of professional animal shipping container for air transport may not be over 5075px, any one bigger than such size may not be shipped as checked baggage, though we suggest that passengers may ship it by freight.

    4. the following types of animal containers are not eligible for checking baggage.

    1. during long-distance flight (domestic flight does not count as long-distance flight), flights with no mid-way stopover or when the cargo bay of certain airplane model is not suitable for carrying small animals.

    2. any air route that involves india.

    3. long segments of flights with scheduled stops.

    4. the animal-carrying container does not meet our requirements.

    5. the animal to be shipped is pregnant or expected to give birth within 48 hours.

    6. small animal less than 6 months old

    7. flat-nosed felines, including burmese, himalaya longhair, persian cat, exotic shorthair (garfield), british shorthair, siamese, etc.

    8. flat-nosed canines, including: terriers (bull terriers, boston terriers, pakistani terriers, staffordshire terriers), boxers, bulldogs, spaniel dogs, bullmastiffs (bordeaux), pugs, mastiffs, american staffords, pit bull terrier, boston beagles, brussels griffons, spanish hounds, english toy cocker spaniels, british toy woodcock spaniels, king charles spaniels, bullmastiffs, belgian shaggy dogs, affenpinschers, lhasa apsos, pekingeses, chow-chows, japanese chins, japanese akitas, kai kens, kishus, shiba inus, shikokus, hokkaido dogs, shar-peis, shih tzus, affenpinschers, cane corsos, etc.

    9. bulldogs, including: pit bulls, tosa inus, fila brasileiro and its hybrid varieties, argentinian dogos, etc.

    10. dogs that are not used high temperature and high altitudes: samoyeds, etc.

    11.at any waypoint during the transportation of small animals, the forecast temperature will be below - 12 鈩?or above 30 鈩?(air transportation temperature conditions have a great impact on the safety of small animals, for the safety of passengers' lives, small animals are not allowed to be consigned). the source standards of temperature information are as follows:

    (1) for domestic departure flights, the temperature information is subject to the temperature forecast information published by china meteorological network on the day of passenger application. the query website is: http://www.cma.gov.cn/

    (2) for overseas departure flights, the temperature information shall be subject to the temperature information inquired on the website of local meteorological institutions

    (3) in case of special weather conditions, the transportation temperature of small animals shall be subject to the maximum or minimum temperature on the day of actual transportation

  • in the even that there, rieties, argentinian dogos, etc. ens, kishcarry-on baggage or free carry-on, the whole piece of baggage is deemed as rule-breaching baggage. and shandong airlines have the following rules for any rule-breaching baggage found:
    1. shandong airlines has the right to reject any rule-breaching baggage found at the airport of departure; in the case of rule-breaching baggage that鈥檚 already been accepted, shandong airlines has the right to cancel it or take the rule-breaching article out before shipping, and the excess baggage fare already paid is non-refundable.

    2. once any rule-breaching baggage is found at a stopover airport, it should be detained immediately and the excess baggage fare already paid is non-refundable.

    3. any prohibited article, restricted article or hazardous article secretly carried in rule-breaching baggage will be handled by relevant authorities.

     


  • 1. passenger who asks to withdraw his or her baggage at the airport of departure must make such request before the baggage is loaded. if the passenger is also applying for ticket refund, the baggage already collected must be withdrawn at the same time and the excess baggage fare charged will also be returned to the passenger.
    2. unless time doesn't allow, the passenger may withdraw his or her baggage at the place of stopover, though the excess baggage fare for unused segments will not be refunded.

    3. while withdrawing baggage of declared value, the valuation charge already paid is refundable if such request is made at the airport of departure, but un-refundable in the case of stopovers.

    4. in the event any passenger needs to transfer to another flight because of shandong airlines鈥?arrangements, the transport of his or her baggage should be accordingly altered. the passenger can take back the extra excess baggage charge paid if he or she is overcharged and won鈥檛 be asked to make up for the shortage if he or she is undercharged; and the valuation charge already paid is non-refundable.

     


  • 1. passengers should claim their baggage using their baggage tag immediately after their flight arrives. and if necessary, they should turn their ticket in for verification first.
    2. shandong airlines charges a baggage storage fee for any unclaimed baggage as of the day after the one the baggage arrives. shandong airlines has the right to dispose of any baggage that contains any perishable 24 hours after it arrives.

    3. shandong airlines identifies and returns the baggage by baggage identification voucher only and assumes no responsibility for whether the person who claims the baggage is the corresponding passenger nor any loss and expenses thusly caused.

    4. under the circumstances that any baggage arrives late, shandong airlines should inform the passenger to pick it up or it may directly deliver the baggage to the passenger without charging any storage fee for delayed baggage.

    5. passenger锛宯ot filing any written objection during baggage claim should be deemed as prima facieeevidence that the baggage has been successfully shipped and delivered as specified in the transport contract. 

    6. passengers should report any loss of baggage identification voucher to shandong airlines immediately. in the event that the passenger intends to claim his or her baggage, he or she should provide shandong airlines with sufficient evidence and show his or her receipt note. shandong airlines shall not be held liable if the lost baggage is already falsely claimed by somebody else before iticient evidence an

     


  • shandong airlines has the right to dispose of any undeliverable baggage that鈥檚 not claimed by anyone 90 days as of the day after the one it arrives.

     


  • 1. shandong airlines鈥?liabilities
    a. shandong airlines should be held liable for any delay, loss or damage of passengers鈥?checked baggage from the moment it was checked to the moment it鈥檚 delivered.

    b. shandong airlines shall not be held liable if it can prove that it has taken all necessary measures in order to prevent the loss caused by delay or simply can鈥檛 take any measure.

    c. shandong airlines shall not be held liable if the loss of checked baggage is completely caused by the baggage鈥檚 own natural property, quality or defect.

    d. shandong airlines shall not be held liable for any damage or loss caused by the articles inside the baggage. under the circumstances that the article inside any passenger鈥檚 baggage harms anyone or causes others鈥?articles or shandong airlines鈥?property any loss, the passenger should compensate for all of shandong airlines鈥?losses and any expenses thusly caused.

     


  • a. in the event that any passenger鈥檚 checked baggage is completely or partially damaged or lost, the amount of indemnification in no more than 100 yuan per kilogram. and if the value of the baggage is less than 100 yuan per kilogram, the passenger shall be compensated at the actual value of his or her loss.
    b. weight of passenger鈥檚 lost baggage is subject to the weight of the baggage checked. in the event that the weight of lost baggage is uncertain, the passenger may only be compensated for the free baggage allowance he or she is entitled to.

    c. shandong airlines shall pay for the reduced value or cost of repair for damaged baggage. in the event that any suitcase is broken, the amount of indemnification should be no more than 100 yuan per kilogram based on the weight of the baggage.

    d. under the circumstances that the passengers have declared the value of his or her baggage, shandong airlines should compensate him or her for the declared value. if the declared value is higher than the baggage鈥檚 actual value, the indemnification should be subject to the actual value.

    e. under the circumstances that passenger鈥檚 carry-on baggage or free carry-on is lost while he or she is getting on, off the plane or due to any incident happens on the plane, the maximum amount of indemnification shandong airlines should bear is no more than 3,000 yuan per passenger.

    f. after finding any lost baggage whose indemnity has already been taken care of, shandong airlines should inform the passenger immediately. the passenger may take his or her baggage back and return all of the indemnity except for the compensation for temporary living supplies. shandong airlines has the right to take back all indemnity if it finds that the whole thing is clearly a fraud.
